Conference about "Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Solutions in Developing Countries"

BORDA and their partner organisation IWA will be organizing a conference and exhibition on Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Solutions in Developing Countries in Surabaya, Indonesia on 23-25 March 2010. This conference is targeted mainly at practitioners in the field of sanitation and health, and aims to raise awareness and promote the use of decentralized systems as an alternative to large centralized systems.

Among issues that will be discussed include
(a) technical decentralized sanitation options,
(b) community-based sanitation aspects,
(c) management aspects related to decentralized options, and
(d) upscaling and integration of decentralized systems.

The call for paper has just closed and we have received more than 70 abstracts which are currently being reviewed. In total, we are expecting about 200-250 delegates from developing countries in the region and beyond to attend the conference. To attract participants from developing countries, we are pricing the conference at very affordable rates, and will also be providing simultaneous translation in Bahasa Indonesia. This event may therefore be relevant to your company given your interest in the regional market.

About the Conference

Organised by the International Water Association (IWA) and Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) and supported by the indonesian National Development Agency (Bappenas), the conference brings together top wastewater and sanitation experts, governments, utilities and international agencies to share and discuss their expertise, knowledge and experiences on decentralized wastewater treatment solutions. It is designed very much for practitioners with emphasis on applications and case studies on applied decentralised systems, with ample time dedicated for discussions and and interactions amongst delegates to share experiences and lessons learnt, The key areas which would be discussed include technical decentralised sanitation options, community-based sanitation aspects, management options and upscaling and integration of decentralised systems
